Let’s dive into the three Mother’s Day 2020 trends!

Handcrafted Mindfulness

Being more mindful is what we’re craving in a digital world. We look to add magic, mystic and Eastern philosophies into our daily lives to feel more positive. This is updated with a handcrafted feel to make it feel comforting and homely.

Key materials & patterns

  • Smooth and decorated ceramics
  • Molten and melted look to materials
  • Crafted details such as weave and beading
  • Vintage styles meets Kintsugi and Wabi-sabi
  • Agate patterns

Key products

  • Spiritual stationery to empower the user
  • Handcrafted jewellery
  • Vintage fashion and home accessories with modern updates
  • Cleansing sticks, sprays and crystal mists that target different emotions
  • Creating sacred spaces in the home using accessories to make this space more peaceful

Illustrated & Personal

Personalisation is so popular for gifting occasions. So much so that the high street is constantly trying to keep up with small businesses! Adding twists to personalisation is a great way to keep your products offering unique and relevant to the changing market.

Key materials & patterns

  • Organic fabric such as linen, cotton and bamboo
  • Textured paper
  • Raw, bleached and scorched surfaces
  • Linear and abstract line drawings
  • Layered painterly illustrations with bold lines
  • Mixing patterns such as geometric, nature and brush marks

Key products

  • Linear line drawings for family trees
  • Illustrated jewellery
  • Personal instead of fully personalised products

Positively Female

This is a development from the 2019 Mother’s Day trend of the female role model. This trend focuses on strong women who empower themselves and those around them. It’s about connection, being inclusive and being bold in your style, opinions and who you are.

Key materials & patterns

  • Recycled plastic
  • Colourful yarns and threaded details
  • Modern applique
  • Pattern clashes
  • Layered illustrations and patterns
  • Bold colours and patterns
  • Positive messages and slogans

Key products

  • The unique placement of messages and illustrations on products. Think hidden, on the edge or around a pocket
  • Fashion accessories such as scarves, purses, keyrings and make-up bags
  • T-shirts and jumpers
  • Positive stationery with messages that uses unique paper and patterns for added interest
  • Photo frames with embellishment and threaded details
