As a product business owner, the beginning of a new year means it is time to reflect, analyse, and prepare for the year ahead.

Reviewing how your business performed in 2024 can uncover valuable insights about what worked, what didn’t, and what can be improved.

By taking a closer look at your sales, marketing efforts and operational efficiency, you can set realistic goals and craft actionable strategies to make 2025 an even better year.

First up, journal on how 2024 went and felt for you using these prompts:

  • What was the theme of your 2024? (how did it feel?)
  • It was the year of… (list what happened)
  • What did you achieve in 2024?
  • What do you miss out on and struggle with in 2024?
  • What lessons did you learn and how did you surprise yourself by how you showed up to the challenges presented in 2024?
  • What are you most proud of in 2024?
  • What are you leaving behind in 2024 and are ready to let go of?

Look at your numbers and know your sales figures!

Get clear on your numbers so you know where you are and what worked:

  • Total and Monthly Revenue
    • List all your sales channels so you see which brought in the most income.
  • Total and Monthly Expenses
  • Total Profits
  • Average Monthly Profits
  • Where Did The Majority of Sales Come From?
  • Email List Growth
  • General Audience Growth (social media, etc.)
  • Total Traffic
  • Traffic Channels (where did your traffic come from?)
    • Expand on these and get more specific in the way I do it

Review your numbers

  • What worked
  • What did not work?

80/20 rule

  • What is the one big thing that grew your business in 2024?
    • Where did the big bulk of your sales and traffic come from?
    • What is the one big thing that made money?
    • What is the one big thing that drove sales?

2025 goals & mindset shifts

  • If I could be paid for anything, what would it truly be? What do you feel inspired to do? What makes you feel good?
  • Reviewing everything above, what 3-5 big goals do you want to focus on in 2025 based on what has worked and what you are inspired to try next? Write all your ideas down, we can narrow them down later and get specific.
  • How do you want to spend your time in 2025? How much time do you realistically have in 2025?
  • How can this year be easy for me?

Review all of your work – how do you feel? Do your goals match your review of 2024 and how you want to work going forward?
